SMART BALANCE Rice is cultivated according to [GAP] Good Agriculture Practices Guidelines by trained farmers. It is a unique rice grain variety from India having a Low Glycemic Index [GI]. Developed after intensive research in the field of Glycemic Index and their functional food benefits; A Low GI food helps to:

Smart Balance rice has a high content of resistant starch and hence its GI value is low.

WHAT IS THE GLYCEMIC INDEX?
The Glycemic Index (GI) is a system of ranking the quality of carbohydrates in food according to the immediate effect they have on the blood glucose level within the first two hours. Individual foods are compared to pure glucose, which has its Glycemic Index set at 100. In other words Glycemic Index is defined as the ability of food to raise the blood glucose levels expressed as a score.
SMART BALANCE RICE is the only polished white rice with a Low GI. The GI has been recommended to help/guide food choice, because low GI foods have shown to reduce blood glucose in people with diabetes, increase insulin sensitivity, control weight, reduce the risk of heart disease and reduce blood cholesterol.
